Truth and Reconciliation|

May 20, 2025

Prince Rupert City Councillors Forster and Adey, along with Rosamaria (Rosa) Miller, Director of Corporate & Legislative Services for the City of Prince Rupert, visited the Miller Bay Monument on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Ts’msyen Gitlaan artist Mike Epp thanked the group for becoming part of the monument’s legacy.

We are currently inviting individuals, families, and communities affected by the Miller Bay TB Hospital to take part in a meaningful nation-to-nation effort led by the Lax Kw’alaams Band. Those who are able and willing can send a small piece of copper by mail. These contributions will be incorporated into the monument forever, symbolizing remembrance and strength.

For more information on the Call for Copper, visit: https://laxkwalaams.ca/a-call-for-copper-honouring-those-affected-by-miller-bay/

Copper can be sent between May 7 and June 7, 2025 to:
PO Box 674
Prince Rupert, B.C.
V8J 3S1

Stay tuned for details on the upcoming monument unveiling.
