Spirit of Lax Kw’alaams – Schedule Restored

The Spirit of Lax Kw’alaams has repaired an outstanding mechanical issue, and will run the regular ferry schedule starting Tuesday June 4, 2024. The barge and water taxi will no longer be required for transportation to the community.

Crew of the Spirit of Lax Kw’alaams is grateful for the patience of our passengers during this most recent repair, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on regular ferry sailings.

The Spirit of Lax Kw’alaams is working to install  a critical engine part, which requires a specialized diesel mechanic. Until further notice, a barge and water taxi will run in lieu of the previously scheduled sailings. To improve accessibility, the water taxi has added a second stop for foot passengers at Gat Leedm Dock.

Amix Group Terminal barge is located at the end of Mish Aw Road, in the Prince Rupert industrial site. Vehicle passengers will drop off their vehicle to the barge 30 minutes prior to departure, and travel by water taxi from the Amix site.

Gat Leedm Dock is located at 90 Charlie Currie Road near Cow Bay. Foot passengers may board the water taxi at either Amix Group Terminal (with vehicle passengers) or at Gat Leedm Dock. The ramp at the Gat Leedm Dock is more accommodating for travellers with accessibility needs.

Due to space limitations, all passengers, including foot passengers, must make a reservation by calling 250-625-2445. Regular ferry fares apply when travelling on the barge and water taxi.

Morning:
8:30am Amix Group Terminal – Barge and water taxi depart. Drop off vehicles 30 minutes prior.
8:50am  Gat Leedm Dock – Ferry fares collected. Foot passengers board water taxi
10am Tuck Inlet – All vehicles and passengers arrive to Tuck Inlet

10:30am Tuck Inlet – Barge and water taxi depart. Drop off vehicles 30 minutes prior.
11:15am Gat Leedm Dock – Ferry fares collected. Foot passengers disembark water taxi
12pm Amix Group Terminal – All vehicles and vehicle passengers arrive to Amix Group Terminal

Afternoon:
5:30pm Amix Group Terminal – Barge and water taxi depart. Drop off vehicles 30 minutes prior.
5:50pm Gat Leedm Dock – Ferry fares collected. Foot passengers board water taxi
7pm Tuck Inlet – All vehicles and passengers arrive to Tuck Inlet

7:30pm Tuck Inlet – Barge and water taxi depart. Drop off vehicles 30 minutes prior.
8:15pm Gat Leedm Dock – Ferry fares collected.  Foot passengers disembark water taxi
9pm Amix Group Terminal – All vehicles and vehicle passengers arrive to Amix Group Terminal

The crew is hopeful to resolve this issue quickly and revert back to the regular ferry schedule as soon as possible. The crew will continue to update travellers about changes to the ferry service.

For the Thursday May 30, 2024 8:30am barge only:

Vehicles and vehicle passengers will be loading at McLeans Shipyard at 2309 Seal Cove Road (in the Seal Cove area). The crew of the Spirit of Lax Kw’alaams will be directing passengers to the barge. *There will be no foot passenger stops at Gat Leedm dock during the morning run.*

The afternoon Thursday barge and water taxi schedule remain the same as scheduled, with the barge departing out of Amix Group Terminal.

The afternoon Thursday barge and water taxi schedule will be altered today, with the barge departing out of Amix Group Terminal arriving to Tuck, but returning from Tuck to offload vehicles and passengers at McLean’s Shipyard at 2309 Seal Cove Road (in the Seal Cove area). *There will be no foot passenger stops at Gat Leedm dock during the afternoon run.*

Passengers are reminded to make a reservation in advance of all barge and water taxi sailings, by calling 250-625-2445.
