Community members are advised to use caution when walking or driving in Lax Kw’alaams due to heavy snowfall and icy conditions.

Roads, sidewalks, and pathways may be very slippery. Lax Kw’alaams Maintenance crews are continuing snow removal and salting efforts to improve safety throughout the community.

Safety Reminders To help prevent slips and accidents:

For Pedestrians

  • Walk carefully on sidewalks, boardwalks, and pathways
  • Wear footwear with good traction
  • Take extra care on hills, stairs, and icy areas
  • Use handrails where available

For Drivers

  • Drive slowly and allow extra stopping distance
  • Watch for pedestrians walking along roads and intersections
  • Use caution on hills and icy streets
  • Give snow removal equipment space to work

Church Street

During periods of heavy snowfall, Church Street may be closed with cones to allow sledders to use the hill safely. Drivers and pedestrians are asked to use alternate routes and remain cautious when approaching nearby intersections.
