Vessel operators, including recreational vessels, in the Lax Kw’alaams harbour area are asked to be mindful of all users.
As the seasonal weather improves, community members will be accessing the waterfront area for a variety of recreational activities.
Please be mindful of students and youth groups who are kayaking and canoeing. Be aware of your speed and slow down around others, as a boats wake can be a risk to other waterway users. A boats wake can also damage other vessels, the dock and the shoreline.
Avoid Dangerous Behaviours
Never try to spray swimmers, or cut in front of, or try to jump the wake of other vessels. Some of the worst boating incidents happen when operators misjudge speed or distance.

Kayakers and canoers
Be visible on the water. Wear a bright coloured life jacket or PFD, and choose a bright coloured vessel so that other boat operators can see you.
