As boating increases along the Northwest Coast please follow updated safety measures to protect all waterway users
As Spring and Summer bring more vessels to the water, it’s important to share the harbour safety with all users – including youth groups, kayakers, and shoreline visitors. Please be especially cautious near
docks, inlets, and narrow channels.
When Operating a Vessel:
– Wear a lifejacket or PFD, bright colours improve boat visibility
– Slow down near small boats, docks and paddlers to reduce wakes
– Avoid jumping wakes, cutting off boats, or spraying swimmers
– Carry required safety gear and do not operate a vessel impaired
When Canoeing or Kayaking:
– Let someone know your route and expected return time
– Stick to shoreline routes when possible and travel in groups
– Use brightly coloured boats and gear to stay visible on the water
