Lax Kw’alaams has begun the process of creating a new Marine Resources Management and Governance Plan.
This plan aims to:
- Identify the community’s vison and goals
- Provide policies and strategies for protection, conservation, management, and development within the marine environment
The Marine Resources Management and Governance Plan will also be a valuable tool and resource for Lax Kw’alaams staff to use when responding to project referrals in the traditional territory. Lax Kw’alaams has developed a project website for this initiative where you can find more information about timelines, engagement opportunities, and other resources.
The project team will also post updates throughout the planning process, so watch this space!
The first community survey for the Marine Resources Management and Governance Plan is now live on the website! Please provide feedback by December 15th. Hard copy surveys are also available at the Band office and
LaxBDL office for Rupert members.
