Lax Kw’alaams in collaboration with Metlakatla extends a warm and respectful invitation to all community members, survivors, families, and allies to join in a week of information sharing, cultural support, and ceremony as we honor the history of the Miller Bay Indian Hospital and raise a monument dedicated to truth, healing, and remembrance.
WEEKLY SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Tuesday, June 17 – FIH Class Action Information Session
An opportunity to learn more about the ongoing TB class action process.
Location: Lax Kw’alaams Hall 824 3rd Ave, Prince Rupert or Zoom | Time: 6:30 – 8:00 PM
Charter to leave Tuck Inlet at 5:30 PM and will return at 8:30 PM
Wednesday, June 18 – Testimony Gathering & ATIP Training
Testimony Gathering in partnership with UBC ATIP (Access to Information and Privacy), community members are invited to share their stories and receive training on accessing personal records.
Location: Lax Kw’alaams Hall 824 3rd Ave, Prince Rupert | Time: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Thursday, June 19 – Wellness Day
A day dedicated to wellness – cultural and emotional support with Tom Smith, IRSSS team, Tsow-Tun Le Lum.

Friday, JUNE 20 – MILLER BAY MONUMENT RAISING CEREMONY
Location: Monument site along Highway 16, near the former Miller Bay Indian Hospital site
The day will begin in the early morning in Metlakatla, B.C., where the monument will begin its journey to its permanent home. Community members are invited to help carry the monument during this powerful and symbolic procession. After the raising ceremony, we will gather at the Prince Rupert Civic Centre for a shared meal.
This week of events offers time for learning, reflection, testimony, and community building. Please bring appropriate clothing, your own seating to the highway if needed, and an open heart.
