Lax Kw’alaam’s Fisheries is hosting a series of workshop to gather Lax Kw’alaams Band members, and provide specific knowledge about marine mammals within the Lax Kw’alaams Band traditional and territorial waters.
Location: Lax Kw’alaams Hall at 824 3rd Avenue West, Prince Rupert
Date: Tuesday, January 21st 2025
Time: 5:00pm to 9:00pm
This knowledge will be used by Lax Kw’alaams fisheries to complete a summary report documenting Lax Kw’alaams Elders, harvesters, and community members’ knowledge of marine mammals and impacts and threats to marine mammals and other species from shipping and other activities.
These community engagement sessions build on prior desktop research on the science of Lax Kw’alaams Band traditional territorial marine mammals.
