Ferry Policy

The Lax Kw’alaams Band Council has enacted the following policy for ferry reservations on the Lax Kw’alaams Ferry. 

Vehicle reservation

•  You must call the ferry reservation clerk at (250) 625-2445
• A confirmation call will be made within 2 business hours stating your reservation number

Passenger reservation

• You must call the ferry reservation clerk at (250) 625-2445
• A confirmation call will be made within 2 business hours stating your reservation number

Standby procedure

• People on standby will receive a call once a place opens up.

Vehicle Lineup Procedure

•  Vehicles with reservations must be at the ferry dock and in the lineup a minimum of twenty (20) minutes prior to the scheduled sailing time
• Reservations may be terminated for any vehicles not lined up at least twenty (20) minutes prior to scheduled sailing time.  This is counted as a no show and you will be charged for that sailing as outlined below.
• For those who have a reservation and who not show, you will have to pay the ferry fee. You will not be allowed further bookings until that fee is paid.

Cancellation Policy

• Cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to the schedule sailing time by calling the reservation clerk. If you do not cancel your reservation 24 hours prior to the scheduled sailing time you will be charged for the ferry fee and you will not be allowed further bookings until that fee is paid.

Miscellaneous Rules

All vehicles with reservations that have lined up at least twenty (20) minutes prior to scheduled sailing time will be loaded on the ferry unless one of the following applies:

1.  Emergency vehicles will be given priority (e.g. ambulance, police)
2. Vehicle with reservations but who exceed weight or dimension limitations
3. The Captain, at his sole discretion, may refuse any vehicle or passenger in accordance with his authority under Transport Canada regulations
