HEALTH CENTRE UPDATE
TEMPORARY MEASURES
January 19, 2021
As many of you know by now, Lax kw’alaams is on a temporary (10 day) lockdown due to covid spread risks. This measure was implemented on January 17th.
As a result, the Health Centre will be operating on a modified services schedule during this time. We will make every effort to ensure that the health and wellbeing of community remains our top priority. Below is some information to observe.
- Health staff will deliver medications to homes during regular work hours. After hours medication pickup can be arranged with the clinic nurses.
- The health clinic will remain fully staffed to ensure that patients with urgent health concerns are cared for. Clinic services will be limited to emergencies and urgent care. The clinic nurses and/or physician, in consultation with the patient, will determine what constitutes urgent care.
- Elders will continue to receive services as needed either by phone or in person.
- Meals on Wheels will resume when the restrictions are lifted.
- Previously planned workshops or events will be rescheduled once restrictions are lifted.
- Call outs and home visits will continue.
- Routine blood work will be rescheduled. Blood work that is deemed necessary / urgent by the nurses or physician will continue.
- Patient Travel will continue on an urgent / emergency basis as determined by referral from, or recommendation by, clinic nurses and/or physician. Non urgent patient travel will be rescheduled.
Thank you for your patience during these challenging times and we look forward to resuming full services in the near future.
