Please note that Lax Kw’alaams Band is in the process of phasing out cheques and the practice of cheque cashing. This is in keeping with the global move towards electronic banking, which better secure your funds.

We encourage individuals to open bank accounts and take their bank account details to the band office. Do investigate the various options and select the financial institution that is most appropriate for your needs. The available banking options within Prince Rupert include:

After you open your bank account, please ask your bank for a void cheque. Take this into the Band Office. You are ready to receive electronic payments. This includes payments for Distributions, Social Assistance (SA) payments, travel and services or goods sold to the Band.
