Human Resource Coordinator (Term – Full Time)

Reporting to: Human Resources Manager
The Lax Kw’alaams Human Resources Department has an exciting and immediate opening for a Term – Full Time Human Resources Coordinator. The position will end on October 7, 2026 or 10 days after the return from parental leave of the Human Resources Coordinator. As a key member of the team, this role is responsible for providing a wide range of administration tasks while being available for employee concerns, ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of requests and questions. Excellent organization and strong communication skills.
Responsibilities:
General
▪ Provide clerical and administrative support
▪ Compile and update employee records ensuring they are kept confidential and up to date
▪ Process documentation and prepare reports
▪ Coordinate HR projects, meetings, training, surveys
▪ Deal with employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations
▪ Assist payroll by providing relevant data
▪ Conduct initial orientation to newly hired employees
▪ Assist our recruiters to source candidates and update job boards
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
▪ Diploma or degree in HR/ Business or related field, HR Certification considered an asset
Experience
▪ Proven experience as an HR assistant, office support or relevant human resources/administrative position
▪ Combination of work experience and education will be considered

▪ Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people
▪ Ability and willingness to learn and adapt to a changing work environment

▪ Excellent technological skills, including Microsoft Office and equipment like calculators, photocopiers, fax machines, and printers
▪ Knowledge of Payworks payroll system is an asset
▪ Knowledge of the Lax Kw’alaams people, culture & traditions, social dynamics & community is an asset
Physical Demands and Working Environment: Physical Demand
▪ You may have to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment, computers and attending meetings
Mental Demand
▪ You will have to complete several tasks and responsibilities at one time and must be prepared to deal with emergencies and stressful situations at any time
▪ You may have to communicate and deal with staff that may come may be distressed
Condition of Employment
