First Responders On Call Positions Available

Reporting to: Fire Chief
The Lax Kw’alaams Band and the Fire Department have immediate openings, for On Call First Responders. The successful candidates will have to attend mandatory training, follow instructions and be able to work in challenging conditions. The position will cover the Fire Department and Ambulance services to the Community.
Duties and Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
▪ Attend all mandatory training to become a certified First Responder
▪ Ability to work all shifts, including weekends, late evenings, early morning, as required.
▪ Provide manual labour on various other tasks and assignments as required.
▪ Maintain the equipment on the job site, using and storing them properly and securely at the end of every shift.
▪ Must have a strong work ethic and commit to the work schedule.
▪ Follow a timekeeping system, training and protocols as directed by the Supervisor.
▪ Perform all other tasks within the scope of the position and as assigned.
Qualifications:
▪ Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms and/or legs.
▪ Care about the quality of work; can work well on a team and follow safety standards.
▪ Self-motivated, ability to work safely and independently without constant supervision.
▪ Able to work outdoors/ indoors and in stressful environments.
▪ In good physical condition, able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, sit and stand for extended periods, kneel, climb ladders, and walk on varied terrain.

▪ Provide a current Criminal Record Check if requested.
▪ Class 5 Drivers License Mandatory – Training provided for Airbrakes License

Compensation & Benefits
▪ Wages will be $ 20.11
▪ This is a Bargaining Unit position and is open to all gender.
