Request for Committee Members to the Finance and Audit Committee

Lax Kw’alaams Band, located in Lax Kw’alaams, BC, is a fast-paced organization undergoing rapid growth and development to achieve self-determination and economic independence.

Having enacted its Financial Administration Law under the authority of the Fiscal Management Act, the Nation is looking for Band members to join its Finance and Audit Committee. The Finance and Audit Committee assists the Council in carrying out its oversight responsibilities for financial reporting, internal control and risk management processes.

The appointment would be for a 3-year term and the committee member would be expected to commit to preparing for and attending a minimum of 4 of the 6 scheduled committee meetings per year. Members must be independent of the Governance and Administration of the Nation and free of any conflict of interest.

Required qualification:

The ability to read and understand financial statements, plus a minimum of 3-years’ business experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred qualifications:

Accounting certificate, diploma or degree
Compensation will be provided on a per meeting basis.
