The Lax Kw’alaams Band and Preschool have an opening for a full-time Early Childhood Educator.

Duties and Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Monitor the children, ensuring safe, healthy environment
- Deliver curriculum education courses as required
- Plan for class activities, including preparing food and snacks, daily lesson plans, identifying materials to implement class activities, preparing projects
- Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction in the form of discussion, direct teaching, demonstrations and independent practice using various proven methods.
- Maintain a safe, orderly and supportive environment by modelling expected behaviour and standards, promoting positive interactions and quickly addressing behaviours that are not in line within the policy.
- Communicate with parents regularly about schedules, events and individual children’s needs.
- Meet with parents during scheduled meetings as required
- Improve skills and knowledge in childcare by regularly taking classes, attending workshops and discovering new methods of delivering exciting content for children
- To assist the children coming to school and when leaving, helping with their clothing and belongings
- Assist with schedule and programs
- Oversee the loading and unloading off the school bus
- Operate teaching tools and equipment while maintaining a safe, clean physical environment
- Maintain the confidentiality of information seen or heard
- May on occasion be required to perform other job related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Only candidates holding certification as a Early Childhood Educator (ECE) will be considered.
- Is a passionate, dedicated educator who wants to help move our children to the next level.
- Proven record of professionalism, punctuality, flexibility, dependability, and reliability.
- Strong communication skills.
- Highly motivated and able to work independently; must be able to schedule and prioritize work.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Able to deal with people sensitivity, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to embodying a healthy lifestyle.
- The successful candidate will be asked to provide a current Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening and a valid driver’s license as a condition of employment.
- Fully COVID vaccinated (at least 2 vaccines).
Compensation & Benefits
- Wages will be $25.00 per hour, less bi-weekly deductions.
- This is a Bargaining Unit position and is open to all genders.
