Lax Kw’alaams WAAP Housing Society., in collaboration with the Lax Kw’alaam Band, is seeking to
engage a Tsimshian artist to contribute their artistic talents to the affordable housing project located in
Prince Rupert, British Columbia. This project aims to create a culturally enriched environment that
honors and reflects the heritage of the Lax Kw’alaam community.

The WAAP Housing Society are inviting expressions of interest from artists skilled in the following areas:

Carvings: Design and create traditional Tsimshian carvings that will be placed in prominent areas
such as the lobby, communal gathering spaces, and exterior gardens.
Digital Media Arts: Produce digital artworks and installations that resonate with Tsimshian
narratives and aesthetics, to be integrated into the architecture and interior design elements of
the building.
Environmental Artwork: Develop site-specific artworks that enhance the outdoor spaces and are
durable enough to withstand local weather conditions, contributing to the aesthetic and cultural
value of the environment.

Submission Requirements:
Brief biography and artist statement, detailing your connection to Tsimshian heritage and artistic
vision.
Portfolio of previous works that demonstrates expertise in the required artistic disciplines.
Concept proposal for the artwork, including preliminary sketches or digital renderings (if
available).
Estimated budget and timeline for the completion of the artwork.
