Lax Kw’alaam's Fisheries is hosting a series of workshops to gather band member's, and provide specific knowledge about marine mammals within Lax Kw'alaams Band traditional territorial waters.

Location: Elders Lodge in Lax Kw'alaams

Date: January 18th, 2025

Time: 11:00am to 2:00pm

This knowledge will be used by Lax Kw’alaams fisheries to complete a summary report documenting Lax Kw’alaams Elders, harvesters, and community members' knowledge of marine mammals and impacts and threats to marine mammals and other species from shipping and other activities.

These community engagement sessions build on prior desktop research on the science of Lax Kw'alaams Band traditional territorial marine mammals.

A copy of the completed report will be shared with the fisheries committee and members who request a copy.

The workshop will take 3 hours and light refreshments will be provided.
