DECREASED FERRY SCHEDULE
MORE CONTROLS ON TRAFFIC

AMENDMENT: The ferry schedule will continue on MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS and FRIDAYS only.

Given the increased need to control our community’s exposure to the COVID 19 virus, we are implementing increased control on traffic into Lax Kw’alaams. As well, we are decreasing our ferry schedule.

Effective immediately:

1. Local residents are not allowed in and out. If you leave, you will not be permitted re-entry,
2. This policy will be waived for the following three categories ONLY:

a) patient travel for serious cases only. Patients are not to leave their vehicle.
b) essential services as defined by Administration
c) retail grocers, resident to Lax Kw’alaams, who will be going in and out to obtain groceries for the community. These retailers are obliged to attend a meeting with Administration and the nursing staff where they will be instructed on how to self-isolate upon their return.

The ferry schedule will continue on MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS and FRIDAYS only, as described above. No walk-ons will be permitted.

The Band will be placing security at Tuck Inlet and at the docks to prevent entry into the community.

Families are encouraged to order on-line from Rupert grocers or to buy locally. The Band will be buying more food effective immediately. We will broadcast distribution schedules on the CB.

Be calm. Protect your families. We thank everyone for their wonderful acceptance. We are all doing a good job. Let it continue.

Mayor
