TRAVEL OPEN TO PRINCE RUPERT ON MONDAY IF THERE ARE NO NEW CASES IN PRINCE RUPERT

We have been monitoring the two positive COVID cases in Prince Rupert and there hasn’t been an increase in COVID 19 cases.  We are watching carefully to see whether further cases would be confirmed.  We have seen this occur in the Nass Valley, Haida Gwaii, Alert Bay, and the LNG site in Kitimat.

The Emergency Measures Committee (EMC) met on Friday, December 11 to discuss amendment to travel restrictions since there hasn’t been any new COVID cases in Prince Rupert.

The Committee decided:

  1.  Current restrictions remain from Advisory 18
  2. If there are no new cases in Prince Rupert over the weekend (December 11, 12, & 13) we will open up travel to Prince Rupert for residents on Monday, December 14th.
  3. Band Members from Prince Rupert are allowed into Lax Kw’alaams

Members are encouraged to wear masks AT ALL TIMES.

Be safe.

Mayor
