TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS FOR PATIENT TRAVEL USE OF MASKS

The Emergency Measures Committee (EMC) met on November 3rd to discuss the impact of travel restrictions imposed on community members who travel for medical reasons.  It was judged that isolation was, in certain circumstances, impractical.  The Band only has seven isolation units and we are not able to handle the overflow.

Given these constraints, the Committee decided as follows:

  1. Effective immediately, isolation will be required for patient travel returning from Vancouver or outside the Prince Rupert – Prince George corridor.
  2. Patient travel from within the Prince Rupert – Prince George corridor do not need to be isolated but they must abide by the following:

a) When outside their home, they must wear a mask for 14 days.

b) They are not permitted to enter any public building for 14 days. This includes the post office, the churches, the Band office, the Rec Centre, the maintenance garage, the school or the Health Centre unless they have a medical appointment.

The committee discussed implementing a policy requiring all Band members to wear a mask when outdoors.  We do not wish to go to that extreme but we encourage you to do so. Please!

We are not witnessing further outbreaks in Prince Rupert and we will be reassessing our advisory next week.  Members are reminded that they are not allowed in or out unless it is related to patient travel.

Be safe.
