Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is conducting abalone surveys in Lax Kw’alaams Territorial Waters from April 18-22, 2026
Survey Locations include:
- Dundas Island – North, South, and West sides
- Baron, Dunira, and Melville Islands – West sides
- Tree Knob Group
- Stephens Island – North, East, and West sides
- Prescott Island – East and West sides
- Porcher Island – North side
Survey work will be conducted from the Canadian Coast Guard vessel CCGS Vector. During daytime operations, survey teams will also be diving from smaller vessels named Palmira and Red Ape.
Survey locations and daily activities may change depending on weather conditions.
Members who would like to observe the survey or ask questions while crews are on the water can contact the vessels on Marine VHF Radio Channel 82A.
